The holiday season is here and I hope you are as excited as we are! While we look forward to holiday parties, gifts, Christmas movies, and precious time with loved ones, it is important to remember those who are in need during this time. With that in mind, here are some ways to give back to the community this holiday season!
Help an Animal Shelter
Don’t forget about our furry friends this season. Animal shelters need lots of volunteers to function and do what they do. They need caretakers to help care for the animals. They need donations of food and supplies for the animals. This holiday season, even if you can’t adopt, consider temporarily fostering a shelter pet so they can have a warm home for the holidays.
Feed the Hungry
Not everyone is fortunate enough to enjoy the holidays without financial worries. Many people do not know where their next meal is coming from, let alone how they will purchase a holiday feast. Some may not be able to afford a hearty and delicious Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner for themselves and their family. Support your local turkey drive, food bank, soup kitchen, or Meals on Wheels to make sure everyone has something to eat this holiday season.
Donate Christmas Gifts
There are many children this year who wouldn’t be able to open holiday gifts without the donations of generous donors. Volunteer at a youth shelter or donate gifts to a local children’s charity. You can also clean out your closet and donate clothing you don’t wear anymore so that it can go to people in need.
The holiday season is a season of receiving and of giving. If you want to give back to your community this year, we hope this blog gives you some ideas. If you’re looking for a more comprehensive list of local Magnolia charities, check out this article!
